From Wiki: Saugeen Shores is a town in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada, formed in 1998. (The name "Saugeen" is the corrupted form of the word Zaagiing in the language of the Chippewas of Saugeen Ojibway Territory, meaning "at the river's outlet" or "at the mouth of the river".)

On January 30, 1998, the provincial government amalgamated the Towns of Southampton and Port Elgin, together with Saugeen Township, to form the Town of Port Elgin-Saugeen-Southampton. On December 17, 1998, the Province renamed the entity as the Town of Saugeen Shores.

The primary employment categories are agriculture, small business, tourism and employment at the Bruce Power nuclear power station. This employment explosion at Bruce Power has brought a micro-economy to the area, which continues to grow and thrive outside of the rest of Ontario. The population doubles in the summer due to cottagers and campers who arrive in the area. Close to MacGregor Point Provincial Park, the town has several beaches on Lake Huron.

In addition to the two main population centres of Southampton and Port Elgin, the town includes a portion of the village of Burgoyne and the North Bruce area, straddling the municipal eastern and southern boundary respectively. In 2016, the permanent population of Saugeen Shores was 13,715, in a land area of 171.05 square kilometres (66.04 sq mi).

______________________

There are so many events in the area throughout the year, and so much to do. We have X-country ski trails, snowmobile trails and toboggan hills for winter activity. We are approximately 55 minutes from downhill skiing at Blue and Beaver Valley. Our hockey program is parallel to the best big cities have to offer as well.

In the summertime, of course, we have miles of sandy beaches on Lake Huron, a world-renown river (The Mighty Saugeen) for canoeing, kayaking, and of course the best #SteelHeadFishing in Ontario.
Other summer activities include a great soccer and baseball program, walking trails, mountain biking and more.

There are three public schools in Saugeen Shores, one Catholic Elementary School, and a Secondary School.

We have great shopping for both retail and groceries including Walmart, Independent Grocer (Presidents Choice) as well as amazing boutique shops throughout town which allows us to shop locally without the need to head to a bigger center.

There is an amazing health care system with two medical centers housing a number of doctors, and a newly renovated (brand new emerg wing) Hospital. There are a couple of retirement residences and a long term care facility as well.

So as you can see, Saugeen Shores is a great place to call home. Call Jason Steele today for more information. 519-377-2147
